I was on an intramural basketball team this semester in the competitive league, where that are some really good teams. My team had some really good players and skill-wise, we could definitely compete with most of the teams. We started the season 0-5, and were playing horribly. Each game we tried a new offense and a new defense but could not get anything going and the scoreboard really showed it. During our 6th game, we finally found a good system, and implemented it in our games. We finally won a game, and after that game regained our confidence and won the next 6 in a row. Instead of just giving up on our season, we put our heads together and finally found something that worked. This class has taught me to really learn from my mistakes, grow, and keep persevering in the face of failure. I am definitely more inclined to take a risk now than I was in the beginning of this semester.

Sports is definitely a great example of how to overcome failure. It's awesome that you were on an intramural team and that you were able to learn from it. I also agree that this class has taught me more about failure than I would have expected. Personally, I have gotten into a good rhythm with my schoolwork and hope to keep it up. ReplyDeleteHi Tristan!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really cool perspective on things that we may fail at but how we are able to learn from our mistakes and embrace the challenge. By the looks of it, i'm sure that you team grew closer and more motivated to work together after you learned what it was like to both win AND lose together. I agree that for myself personally, this class has pushed me to become more comfortable with taking risks and embracing the fact that life is a journey and there is a lesson to learn from out of every good and bad situation. Hi Tristan!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your post and I like how you you used sports as an example of where you can face failure. I know that athletes are extremely passionate about their sport and train a lot. Failing is not an easy thing to accept, especially when you work so hard. Its's admirable that your team never gave up and thought of new strategies until something finally worked.
