I went outside of my apartment and spoke to the first two people I found. I just asked them if they wanted a dollar because who wouldn't want free money. I did not think that anyone would actually take the dollar.
Giving away the dollar was harder than I expected because I find it hard to speak to random people. I thought that no one would accept the dollar, but everyone that I offered a dollar to took it.
Tristan, I know it gets so awkward trying to talk to random people but you did a great job! You were very polite. I didn't do this assignment, but everyone seemed to have a hard time giving the dollars away to at least one person. I'm surprised that people didn't ask you why you were giving away the dollar, they just seemed to take it easily. Overall you did a great job with this assignment!
It is really not that hard to give away a dollar these days. Presented the right way, it is not hard to get people to take a dollar today. After all, a dollar these days does not buy much. So to most people a dollar either has value or it does not. To the haves it is not worth much. however, to the have nots, a dollar would be a welcome contribution. I think the way you presented the dollar, by outstretching your arm so they could take it from a distance, effected the willingness of people to take your dollar. I was too afraid to do the assignment, but I appreciate that you not only did the assignment, but were successful. You can see my blog here: http://brientrep.blogspot.com/
Hi Tristan, first of all, good job on the assignment! Even though you find it hard to speak to random people, you accomplished your assignment and in an effective way. I agree with Brie, your body language allowed people to feel more comfortable taking the dollar from a complete stranger because they could take it from a distance. In addition, I believe that if you had not stretched your arm out the way you did, people would not have taken the dollar especially because of the time of day it was (this might have made some people feel uncomfortable or suspicious).
